Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to be signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first album she released with the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she began gaining notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started posting her music to the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her own single Bound and her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. On July 21 2015 she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat it Out. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to work in conjunction with Rihanna. Her announcement to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. Backseat is one of the songs was written by her and Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016, her Pho EP was released. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018 she went on to appear on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was released, followed by a music video September. The second single she released was, Grampa on November 9. In November 2013, she dropped No One as well as Pedigree. They then teamed up on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on the 26th of February 2019 to accompany her debut album with the same title. In February of 2019, the music video for the track debuted. The track has garnered more than 3 million YouTube views within a week. In December of 2018, she was a supporting act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
